1. Who these terms apply to

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of RentConnect (“the Platform”), operated by RentConnect Kenya. By creating an account, listing a property, or applying to rent one through the Platform, you agree to these Terms.

2. What RentConnect is — and isn’t

RentConnect is a marketplace connecting tenants, buyers, and landlords. We are not a party to any tenancy, sale, or lease agreement formed between users, and we do not guarantee the accuracy of any listing, the conduct of any landlord or tenant, or the outcome of any application.

3. Accounts and roles

• You must provide accurate information when registering as a tenant or landlord.
• Landlord accounts are responsible for the accuracy of listings they publish, including price, availability, and property details.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

4. Listings

Landlords agree to list only properties they own or are authorized to manage, and to keep listing status (availability, price) reasonably up to date. RentConnect may remove listings that are inaccurate, duplicated, or violate Kenyan Fair Housing and consumer protection standards.

5. Payments

Rent payments and featured-listing fees processed through the Platform use M-Pesa via Safaricom’s Daraja API. RentConnect Kenya does not currently charge tenants or landlords a commission or transaction fee on payments processed through the Platform. We reserve the right to introduce such fees in the future, with reasonable notice provided to users before any fee takes effect. Payment confirmation, receipts, and any disputes over a specific transaction should first be raised through info@rentconnect.co.ke.

6. Applications and screening

Tenant applications and any screening information submitted through the Platform are shared with the landlord for the listing applied to. RentConnect does not independently verify applicant-submitted information.

7. Prohibited conduct

• Posting false, misleading, or discriminatory listings.
• Harassing or misrepresenting yourself to another user.
• Attempting to circumvent the Platform’s messaging or payment systems to defraud another user.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Kenyan law, RentConnect is not liable for disputes, losses, or damages arising from transactions or agreements between users, including tenancy disputes, payment disputes with third parties, or property condition.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
