Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data RentConnect (“the Platform,” operated by RentConnect Kenya) collects, why, and how it’s handled, for tenants, buyers, and landlords using the Platform.
2. Data we collect

3. How we use it
- To operate your account and match tenants with landlords.
- To process and confirm M-Pesa payments and issue receipts.
- To enable messaging and application review between users.
- To maintain the security and integrity of the Platform.
4. Who we share it with
Listing and profile details you choose to make visible are shared with other users (e.g., a landlord sees a tenant’s application; a tenant sees a landlord’s listing). Payment data is shared with Safaricom to process M-Pesa transactions. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
5. Data retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active, plus a reasonable period afterward to meet legal and accounting obligations. Payment and transaction records are retained for at least seven (7) years, consistent with standard Kenyan tax and financial record-keeping practice. Listing data is retained while a listing is active, and for a reasonable period afterward for historical and dispute-resolution purposes.
6. Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act (2019), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact info@rentconnect.co.ke.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no online platform can guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
